Marvelous Maths

Kia Ora and welcome to my weekly blog post for this week.

Since Term 2 we have been having to do a maths board every week and now it is Term 3 and I have done around 9 slides of maths. Also Today I am going to show you my question and How I got the answer. My Question I did was 19×3 and it equals 57 and how I worked it was if you go 19+19+19 it equals 57 but you could also go 10+10+10 equals 30 and then you go 9+9+9 equals 27 and then go 30 + 27 = 57 which then gives you the answer.

Also on the slide I did a Box method and it’s the same but it is just in a different layout as what I did before, You would then break up the numbers up into tens and ones it the number is over ten so since I have the number 19 I have to then but the 10 into the first box but up the top and I would put the 9 in the second box but also on the top and since I also have the number 3 I would put it on the left hand side next to the edge of the box and Then I would now go 10×3=30 3×9=27 30+27 and the box method can really help you out if you are sometimes stuck on big times tables.

Here is the link to my maths board or you can look at the screenshot of my work if you want to?
